China Will Draft a Law on Biosafety
China is considering drafting its first biosafety law to better regulate the country's use and development of modern biotechnology. The law would regulate the controversial transgenic technology, according to the State Environmental Protection Administration.

Where Are the Labels on Genetically-altered Foods?
Three weeks after China required all genetically-altered soybeans, corn, rapeseed, cotton seed and tomatoes to be clearly labeled as genetically-modified organisms, no such labels can be found on the market. The country's consumer rights watchdogs are critical of the delay.
China Opposes Any Nuclear Weapons Proliferation - Envoy
As a party to the Nonproliferation Treaty, China affirmed its stance against the proliferation of nuclear weapon Monday at the the first session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2005 NPT Review Conference.
