The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is divided by the east to west Tianshan mountain range. The landscape of the northern part of Xinjiang is very different to that of the south, with grassland views and nomadic lifestyles. To explore further, please follow the tour route.

 

Day 1: Heavenly Lake

Located to the east of the Tianshan Mountain range, Heavenly Lake is situated 1,910 meters above sea level. Its crystal clear waters all come from melted snow. Surrounded by mountains, verdant forests and diverse flora and fauna, this lake is rightly regarded as a jewel in the crown of the Tianshan Mountains.

Transport: take a coach at the People's Park in Urumqi heading to the Heavenly Lake. The drive will take around 2 hours.

Ticket prices: 100 Yuan (Apr. to Oct.); 40 Yuan (Nov. to Mar.)
