More than 1,300 doping tests have been conducted so far and no positive case was found when the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games entered half way?in Vancouver?on Friday.

As of Thursday, 1,363 tests had been conducted, more than half of the planned total of around 2,000, said the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The number included 878 pre-competition, and a total of 1,040 urine samples have been taken, together with 323 blood samples.

"Each Games we step up the amount of testing we do and the different sorts of testing we do. Clearly it's good news if athletes aren't doping," said IOC director of communications Mark Adams said.

Russian ice hockey woman player Svetlana Terenteva was the only athlete who was reprimanded for positive test for a prohibited substance in a pre-competition test.

Prior to the Games, the IOC announced more than 30 athletes had been banned from competing in Vancouver for doping offences.
