BEIJING, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.81 percent to 3,939.81 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.92 percent lower at 13,080.49 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.93 trillion yuan (about 272.38 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.91 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to coal, chemicals, and pesticides and fertilizers suffered major losses, while those related to furniture, electronics information, and printing and packaging posted significant gains.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.16 percent to close at 3,069.22 points Tuesday. Enditem
