Huaneng Power International said on Friday that its 2007
electricity output rose 13.2 percent year-on-year after it built
and acquired new capacity. Growth-driven power demand and better
marketing also helped its electricity sales grow, Huaneng said.
In a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, China's largest
listed power producer said its output jumped to 173.7 billion
kilowatt-hours.
The company runs 26 power plants nationwide following the
acquisition of Nanjing Jinling Power Generation Co. from parent
China Huaneng Group.
Three other Chinese power giants have also reported strong
expansion in their 2007 output amid double-digit economic
growth.
-- Datang International Generation Co. said output rose 26.6
percent to 118.3 billion kilowatt-hours.
-- Huadian Power International Corp saw output soar 40.5 percent
to 70.3 billion kilowatt-hours
-- GD Power Development Co. recorded a output of 65.8 billion
kilowatt-hours, up 13.8 percent from a year earlier.
