Changchun Yatai was relegated from the 2025 Chinese Super League after Qingdao Hainiu edged Wuhan Three Towns 1-0 at home in the 29th round of matches on Sunday.
Hainiu's victory lifted the club out of the relegation zone and confirmed Changchun's drop with one match remaining, following its 4-0 loss to Beijing Guoan on Saturday. This is Changchun's second relegation from the top flight, after having also gone down in 2018.
Didier Lamkel Ze scored the game's only goal in the 10th minute with a close-range follow-up. The Qingdao side now only needs to avoid defeat in the final round to secure its place in the league.
Elsewhere, relegation-threatened Meizhou Hakka drew 2-2 with Dalian Yingbo. Meizhou sits second from bottom and faces near-certain relegation, while Wuhan Three Towns ensured survival with 25 points.
At the top of the table, the title race remains open. Shanghai Port tightened its grip on the lead with a 3-0 win over Zhejiang FC, while city rival Shanghai Shenhua stayed in contention by defeating Shenzhen Peng City 1-0. Chengdu Rongcheng dropped out of the title picture after a 2-1 loss to Henan.
Shanghai Port will meet Dalian Yingbo on the final matchday, needing only a draw to clinch the 2025 CSL title.
In other matches, Shandong Taishan beat Tianjin Jinmen Tiger 2-1, and Yunnan Yukun edged Qingdao West Coast 1-0.
